Click & Collect Uniform Orders

Due to staffing shortages, the School Shop will be closed for in person sales from Monday 13 March to Tuesday 25 April 2023 (inclusive). However, during this period families are able to continue to access uniform items through a ‘click and collect’ system.

The process for these online orders is as follows:

1. Review the School’s Uniform Handbook & Price List to determine which item(s) of uniform you require.

2. Use your Operoo account to complete the online order form here. The form is also available directly in Operoo -> Form Library. As part of this process, you will be asked to agree to have the ordered items charged to your fees account and to specify a collection location (one of the school offices).

3. You will receive an email from the School advising you when your order has been processed and when it will be available for collection.

4. Any questions or enquires can be directed to the School Shop at shop@friends.tas.edu.au.

Uniform Handbook and Price List

The Uniform Handbook and Price List is available here.

All students from Kindergarten to Year 12 must wear The Friends’ School uniform as prescribed in the handbook for the relevant section of the school.  School Shop staff are able to assist you with the fitting and purchasing of uniform requirements during the back to school period and throughout the year.

The Friends’ School Shop is the only authorised retailer of The Friends’ School uniform.  The full range of uniform requirements, excluding shoes, are available at the Shop.

An important note about changes to the formal school uniform

Please note that the phase out of white shirts concludes at the end of 2022. From the first day of the 2023 school year, only blue formal shirts can be worn. We continue to  maintain the same cuts and sizes as previously available but all formal shirts are now made from the same blue fabric which is unique to The Friends’ School. Students in Years 7-12 will require a tie to be worn with the blue shirt on formal occasions.

Uniform Fitting Appointments

Every student is different, and the size and fit of garments do vary throughout the range so it is important that new students attend the Shop for a fitting. Appointments are also required for existing families who have a student moving into Year 5 who will need to be fitted for their formal uniform. An appointment is required for each student and only one adult may accompany the student as space in the shopfront is limited.

Appointments are available across the latter half of November and the first half of December and in January. These appointments are booked and managed online through TryBooking.

Please ensure you book an appointment of appropriate length.

Recycling Your Uniform

The Shop recycled used uniform by holding it for resale on behalf of families. Commission is deducted from the sales proceeds which contributes towards the processing costs and our recycling program. Full terms and conditions are detailed on the second hand lodgement form which can be downloaded from the documents above. Hard copies are also available from the School Shop. A lodgment form is required each time garments are deposited at the Shop.
The Shop also accepts donations of uniform for the Refugee and Indigenous Support Fund.  Items of old uniform that are no longer current can be returned to the Shop for recycling.

Payment Methods

Payment is required at the time of purchase via EFTPOS (excluding American Express and Diners Club) as the School Shop operates on a cashless basis.

Phone orders are welcome, please contact the Shop for further details.

Backpacks - Caring for your back

The Friends’ School bags are designed and manufactured with back care in mind.
To cater to the wide needs of students in Kindergarten to Year 12, our backpacks are available in a number of sizes and in a style appropriate to the year level.

Students in Kindergarten to Year 4 use the Unopak. These backpacks are durable with a padded back panel, adjustable straps (including a waist strap) and a mesh side drink bottle pocket. Students in Year 5 to 12 have the Chiropak II which is available in four sizes. The Chiropak II is endorsed by the Chiropractors Association of Australia and has many features which include a removable moulded spinal board to allow for a custom fit.

For the best possible fit, we recommend that students accompany their families when shopping for a backpack so that Shop staff can assist you in selecting the most appropriate bag for the students’ age and size.
