School Shop
The School Shop is the retail outlet for the School and is the only authorised retailer of The Friends’ School uniform. The Shop also sells a range of stationery and textbooks for students in Years 7-12 during the year.
The Shop is located in Robey House at 1 Wilson Street, on the corner of Wilson and Elizabeth Streets.

The Shop is open Tuesday – Thursday during term time, with the exception of the last day of Terms 1, 2 and 3 and on public holidays.

During Term 4, 2023, the School Shop will be transitioned to being managed by an external provider, Midford.
Midford is an Australian family run business that has provided schools with quality school wear since 1946. Midford academic uniforms, sports uniforms and accessories are of excellent quality and value. They have robust and strong business and quality-assurance processes in place at their Sydney based offices and manufacturing facilities. Midford currently partner with many schools around Australia, including leading Tasmanian schools, to provide manufacturing and retail management solutions.
Midford has comprehensive and strong values-aligned policies, guidelines and business practices that cover: Child Safety, Work Health & Safety, Data Protection, Quality Control and Working Conditions, Fabric Performance Specifications, Human Rights Policy and an Ethical Sourcing Code.
During Term 3 and early Term 4, the School will be working with our School Shop staff and Midford to transition our manufacturing and retail operations in preparation for the busy back-to-school period in 2024.
The Uniform Handbook and information, including links, to make a uniform fitting booking will be published and emailed in early Term 4 to all current and new 2024 families.

A. Yes. The School Shop will remain at the same location in Wilson Street. We are looking forward to a fitout project providing an improved layout and retail experience.
A. There are no immediate or short-term plans to change the garments of the current uniform.
A. Over the coming years we will transition a number of garments to be supplied by Midford where appropriate. If there is not a better garment substitute that can be supplied by Midford, then we will stick with the current supplier.
A. The Shop hours will continue to be Tuesday to Thursday. The opening hours will increase slightly to 8am to 5pm each day (an additional 5 hours on Tuesday). There will also be the addition of an online store with click-and-collect and delivery options.
A. There will be some short term reductions in the pricing of some uniform items, and a progressive reduction in pricing of other items as supply arrangements change with Midford.
A. Midford has a local (Sydney) manufacturing facility, as well as adhering to strict sourcing and contract standards. Midford work with QIMA (external audit and supply chain consultant who operates in 95 countries) to maintain a strong ethical standards code.
A. Secondhand uniform will not be sold in the shop from February 2024. The Shop has ceased accepting secondhand uniform stock for resale.
A. Shop staff are currently engaging with the School on arrangements regarding the transition to Midford managing the Shop. Once the transition has been completed, Midford will manage the staffing and operations.
