We all appreciate that through team sports children learn much more than just skill and strategy.

While these benefits are of merit in themselves, there is also social and emotional learning that takes place when we support children for success in team sports.

As children progress through the primary years they are expected to take more responsibility for themselves.

Commitment and promptness to matches are major parts of being a team member. From Year 2 onwards, once a sport is chosen, students need to commit themselves to every training session and be consistently available to play on weekends.

In order to prepare our younger children for matches we offer Skills Sessions in Year 1 and 2 for hockey, soccer and netball. The sessions are conducted over a 6 week period in Term 2 with the focus on particular skills involved in those sports.
