Keon Pavlides (Class of 2021) Solving the Problems of Small Business

Posted on March 27, 2025

It was the late investor Charlie Munger’s description of “first principles thinking”– asking not “what business should I start?” but “what problem do I want to solve?” – that inspired Keon Pavlides (class of 2021) to walk Hobart’s streets in 2023, asking business owners to share the challenges they faced. Some business owners told him they were too busy to talk, but others talked and those conversations led him to build an app that helps salons recover bookings lost to missed phone calls. Now with more than 100 salons using the app, Keon has paused his Politics, Philosophy and Economics degree at ANU. “It’s a good feeling to support local business owners, who wear so many hats,” he says.
