Class of 1971 Reunion

Posted on November 19, 2021

The Class of 1971 had their 50 year out reunion in Hobart on Saturday 6 November 2021. Alumni started their afternoon with a tour of the School, taking the time to visit the Meeting House and the new facilities currently under construction, and to reminisce about different school spaces. Director of Community Engagement, Bill Avery, and Development Manager, Lucy Loney, hosted the tour, during which they shared plans for the exciting new sports centre and transformed WN Oats Centre on the Commercial Road campus. Former teachers and alumni Mark Nicholson and Bob Scandrett also shared stories of their time as students and educators at Friends’. Alumni met in Hodgkin Hall at the conclusion of the tour for a lovely afternoon tea and the opportunity to catch up further with friends.

After a quick refresh, we reconvened at The Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania for a fabulous night of memories, laughs and delicious food and drinks. Mark Nicholson shared a video on the night from a few fellow alumni residing in Melbourne to add a special touch to the evening.

We look forward to hosting a Class of 1971 reunion once more in 2022 for those who were unable to attend due to COVID-19 border restrictions or prior commitments.
