We are pleased to introduce the Head Girl & Head Boy for 2021, Aaliyah Walker and Riley Curtain.

Aaliyah Walker and Riley Curtain, Head Girl & Boy for 2021.

The Head Student positions at The Friends’ School are roles that come with a lot of responsibility and we believe these two brilliant students will do a fantastic job in representing the student body in 2021.

Aaliyah enrolled at The Friends’ School in 2018 in Year 9. She is studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) at Clemes and has been very active in service activities since starting her time at the School. Aaliyah’s passion for service has seen her participate in activities such as volunteering with the Young Leaders of Tasmania program, the Southern Support School and Students Against Racism and involving herself with The Refugee Challenge. Aaliyah is also a budding photographer. Aaliyah says that one thing she really loves about The Friends’ School is the strong sense of community that she feels here, that she has not felt anywhere else.
“…to me, a strong community can make a foreign place feel like home…” says Aaliyah.

Riley has been with The Friends’ School since Year 7 (2016) and is also studying the International Baccalaureate at Clemes. Riley has served on three councils (in primary school, high school, and now in Clemes) and has also been a representative on the School Uniform Committee. Riley was the recipient of the Year 10 Academics Award, a Lions’ Youth of the Year finalist and a panellist for the World Vision “Our World, Our Say” climate change youth summit and report.
“Leaders are there to assist you in achieving your own expectations of yourself and to shape the spaces in which you chase those expectations…” Riley says.
