Kettering Piano Quartet

Posted on August 26, 2019

We look forward to welcoming the Kettering Piano Quartet back to The Friends’ School for their final concert, this Sunday 1 September at 2.00pm in The Farrall Centre. The concert will feature piano quartets by Mendelssohn and Brahms.

Friends’ School students and staff are welcome to attend free of charge. Students should bring their student cards to identify themselves as Friends’ students. Members of the general public may purchase tickets at the door.

“After six years of exciting music-making, the Kettering Piano Quartet is presenting its final programme in the Farrall Centre. We are closing the loop by returning to one of our original programmes and presenting the C minor piano quartets by Mendelssohn and Brahms. Mendelssohn’s first-ever published work, his piano quartet op 1 no 1 sparkles with the unparalleled genius of a thirteen-year-old prodigy the likes of which the world has rarely seen. Brahms’ exceptional piano quartet op 60. Sometimes referred to as The Werther Quartet, it is a work of grand scope with immense impact. Quoting Schumann’s ‘CLARA’ theme and continuing and defending Mendelssohn’s compositional legacy, it is a powerful summation of Brahms’ life.”
