The Friends' School

Year 8 Outdoor Education

Year 8 students build skills in a variety of adventure activities during Term 1 and progress to a longer expedition in Term 3.

The Year 8 Outdoor Education Program involves four day trips:

  • Surfing
  • Coasteering (traversing at sea level, swimming and rock scrambling)
  • Rafting
  • Mountain Biking.

During these activities students are encouraged to go beyond minimising their impact on the environment, to having an active, positive impact on the environment (such as helping to improve penguin breeding habitats).
The Year 8 program also involves a three day / two-night activity that can be selected from a number of options, including:

  • Climbing
  • Surfing
  • Rafting
  • Mountain Biking
  • Bushwalking
  • Photography
  • Catering
  • Sea Kayaking
  • Maria Island Adventure.
