Next Morris Assembly – 28 November
Due to the TCE/IB Art Exhibition being held in The Farrall Centre the next Morris Assembly will be on Tuesday 28 November.

Year 1/2 Swimming and Water Safety program – 13 November – 17 November
The Year 1/2 Learn to Swim program will be held at Friends Health & Fitness from Monday 13 November to Friday 17 November. Any enquiries please contact Lisa Di Venuto on 6210 2228.

Clemes Exams – 13 to 23 November
Please note Clemes exams run from Monday 13 November to Thursday 23 November starting at 8.30am each day.  The area behind Wells will be closed during this time. Please drop off and collect children from the Argyle Street side of Wells.

Year 3 Outdoor Education to Roches Beach – 14 November
Year 3’s final Outdoor Education day is on Tuesday 14 November to Roches Beach and the Lauderdale area. We will be walking along the sand and a beach track to explore the natural environment. During the excursion we will engage the children in team-building activities that involve problem solving and decision-making. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and drink, sunhat, sunscreen and is wearing suitable footwear. School uniform is not required, but please ensure students are dressed appropriately for the weather on the day. Also include a rain jacket and warm jumper, just in case.

Prep Excursion to MONA – Wednesday 15 November
To support our current unit of inquiry, Prep students will travel by bus to MONA on Wednesday 15 November. We will depart school at 11.50am and return by approximately 1.45pm. The children will be viewing selected pieces in the gallery, make observations and draw in the grounds of MONA. We welcome parents to join us on this excursion.

JSSATIS Athletics Carnival – 16 November
The JSSATIS Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 16 November at the Domain Athletics Centre. Students will travel by bus to and from the carnival and need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink. Any enquiries please contact Lisa Di Venuto.

Fire Education – Monday 20 November
A firefighter from the Tasmania Fire Service (TFS) is visiting our school the week starting Monday 20 November to present a Home Fire Safety Program to our Prep to Grade 6 students.
The age appropriate program is designed to raise fire awareness in children and includes fun in class activities, videos, activity books, website and giveaways.
Parents and other family members are also encouraged to participate by reading the information and assisting your child with the after school activities.
The TFS aims to deliver appropriate fire safety education to every primary school child in Tasmania and is part of the TFS’s ongoing commitment to create a fire safe Tasmania.

Year 6 Excursion to Orford – Tuesday 21 November
Year 6 are going on an outdoor education day to Orford on Tuesday 21 November where students will be cataloguing the plant species at Orford and completing a site familiarisation for their camp that will occur on 30 November and 1 December. Students should wear school sports uniform, including hat, and will require their lunch and drink for the day.

Year 4 Camp – Thursday 23 and Friday 24 November
Year 4 Camp will take place from Thursday 23 November until Friday 24 November, at Orana, Roches Beach. Our Outdoor Education teacher, Nicola Hughes, will be accompanying the year group along with Year 4 teachers, GAP students and other Morris staff. Students are to meet in classrooms, with their gear, at 8.45am on the Thursday morning for departure by 9.15am. We will return for the end of the school day on Friday. Students will need a snack for morning tea and a packed lunch in a paper bag on the day they depart for camp and a drink in a refillable bottle. Other meals are provided. Students should not bring any additional food, including lollies. We ask that students do not bring any electronic games, iPods, iPads or mobile phones. In the event of an emergency, one of the staff members will contact parents personally or relay a message via the school office. No money will be required as the children will not be in a position to use it at any time during the trip. A suggested list of equipment for camp was recently emailed to parents. Please contact your child’s teacher should you have any queries.

Year 5 Excursion to the Salvation Army – Friday 24 November
On Friday 24 November, all Year 5 students will walk to and from the Salvation Army Citadel on Elizabeth St in Hobart. They will meet with staff and find out about the various programs that the Salvos have to support people in the Hobart community. Students will depart school by 9.00am and return to school by approximately 1.30pm. Students will eat lunch at the Salvation Army venue before returning to school. Please ensure your child has a packed lunch and water bottle on this day. Students may wear sports uniform and should pack a raincoat and their hat for the walk.
