Supervision at Morris Before School
Children are supervised in the Morris barkchip area, outside the library from 8.30am.  Please support your child by supervising them before this time to ensure their safety. Before and After School Care is available if required.

Hats in Term 4
A reminder to families that students are required to wear hats when outside in Term 4. Please ensure your child’s hat is packed in their bag.

Year 5 Excursion to CCAMLR – 16 October
On Monday 16 October Year 5M students have been invited to the opening of the annual meeting for the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) in Hobart where international delegates discuss the oceans and marine life around the Antarctic. Our students will have the opportunity to present some framed photos of the Southern Ocean by the world famous French photographer, Laurent Ballesta. Please note the change in our departure time – we will be leaving at 8.45am so that the students can see the opening ceremony.

Year 5/6 Growing Up Program – 17 to 19 October
Growing Up – a relationships, sexuality and protective behaviours program, will be run by Family Planning Tasmania for Year 5 and Year 6 starting on Tuesday 17 October.  A parent information session will be held at 8.30am on 17 October in the Morris Library. Prep Outdoor Education excursion – exploring the Conningham Coast – 18 October
On Wednesday 18 October Prep will travel by bus, departing at 9.15am, to explore the Conningham coast. On our excursion students will be undertaking a bushwalk, take a closer look at the natural environment (and perhaps find a crab or two), making indigenous connections, and put their creative, group and problem solving skills into action. Students will return to School by 3.00pm. Students should wear sports uniform. A detailed note, including what to bring, has been emailed to families.

Year 2 Outdoor Education, Peter Murrell Reserve – 19 October
On Thursday 19 October, as part of Outdoor Education, Year 2 students will be visiting the Peter Murrell Reserve. This experience will provide a provocation for our next inquiry into invertebrates, their structure and needs for survival. Students will have the opportunity to explore freshwater and terrestrial environments. Nicola Hughes, Outdoor Education teacher, will provide support on the day. Students will need to wear free choice bushwalking-appropriate clothing and strong footwear (runners or walking shoes). They will also need to bring a waterproof coat and school hat. Students will need to bring lunch, snacks and water. Buses will leave school after PE and Music at 10.00am and return to school by 3.00pm.

Year 5 Excursion – Radio Observatory – Cambridge – 20 October
Following the recent talk about the solar system by astrophysicist Professor John Dickey of UTAS, Year 5 will be visiting Mt Pleasant Observatory (radio telescope) and the Grote Reber Museum at Cambridge on Friday 20 October. The visit will take place during school time between 9.00am and 1.30pm. This will include the students having a picnic lunch at Bellerive beach playground next to Blundstone arena on the way back to school.

Year 3-6, Morris Athletics Carnival – 23 October
The Morris Athletics Carnival will be held on Monday 23 October at the Domain Athletics Centre for all students in Years 3-6. Students are required to make their own way to the Domain by 9.00am, with supervision provided from 8.15am. The carnival concludes at 3.00pm. Students need to be picked up promptly by 3.10pm otherwise they will walk back to school with class teachers. Programs will be sent home in the first week of Term 4. Grandparents and Older Friends Day – 25 October
Grandparents and Older Friends Day will be held on Wednesday 25 October commencing with Morris Assembly at 12.00pm in The Farrall Centre and concluding with afternoon tea at 2.00pm with Principal Nelson File and Head of Morris Mary-Margaret Gibson.  Classrooms will operate as usual and there will be opportunities for you to observe and participate. Invitations have been sent to families and we look forward to welcoming Grandparents and Older Friends on the day.
