Year 6 Exhibition – Open Classrooms and Exhibition Evening – 28 September
PYP Exhibition is a significant event in an IB school. As a culminating experience for Year 6 students, it is an opportunity to independently exhibit the attributes of the learner profile and identify, investigate and offer solutions to real life issues. It is also an opportunity for them to demonstrate the five essential elements of the PYP program: knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action. Our Exhibition this year is under the transdisciplinary theme of How the world works. All Friends’ families are invited to share in the Year 6 Exhibition evening on Thursday 28 September, from 5.30pm – 7.00pm, in The Farrall Centre.
Year 6 Exhibition Action
Donations of eye-glasses required
A group of students for their Year 6 Exhibition are inquiring into eye care and for their ‘action’ they are collecting glasses to be recycled and sent to third world countries. If you have any old glasses, could you please bring them in to the Year 6 area where there will be a collection box. Thank you in advance, Charlotte & Thomas, Year 6.
Loose Change Drive – Providing Aid to the Victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria
For Exhibition we are looking at building structures and how geography influences them. We have learnt that thousands of people have lost their homes as a result of the recent hurricane activity in the Caribbean and the US. The devastation has been horrific. Our action will be to donate to a charity called ‘All Hands’ through a ‘Loose Change Drive’. All Hands are currently providing aid to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Their model is based on meeting the greatest need as best they can. We are asking students and parents in Walpole to bring in loose change between now and next Friday to support All Hands. We will be visiting classrooms every day next week to collect donations and donations can also be made at our Exhibition stand. Thank you in advance, Pippa, Chris and Cathy.
