Education conversation on ABC Radio Tasmania
Leon Compton from ABC Tasmania Morning Radio will host an on-air panel of local school Principals – including Principal of The Friends’ School, Nelson File  – from 10:05am this Tuesday 19 September.
Tune in to their proposed conversations on the future of school education in Tasmania, engaging students on their role in globalisation and other important topics.
Other panelists include Gill Berriman, Principal at Bayview Secondary College and Matthew Bennell, Principal at Taroona High School.

Welcome to our German Visitors
We would like to welcome a group of ten students and their two teachers from our Sister School, the Lessing Gymnasium in Uelzen, Northern Germany who are here for their exchange from 21 September to 29 September.
Students will be hosted by Friends’ families and will accompany their host partners to classes at Clemes and will also visit German classes in the High School.
We wish our friends a wonderful stay in Tasmania and a great educational experience in our school.

School Shop
The School Shop will be closed on the final day of Term, Friday 29 September and for the school holiday period. The Shop will open for Term 4 at 8.00am on Monday 16 October on its usual schedule which can be found on the website here.

Student Withdrawals 
We would like to remind all families that the procedure to withdraw a student from Friends’ is to provide one term’s notice in writing, addressed to the Principal. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Enrolments Office on 6210 2286 to discuss.

Goethe Prize Giving Ceremony – German Speech and Poetry Competition
On Tuesday, 5 September, 40 students of German from the High School and Clemes competed in the annual Goethe Competition at the University of Tasmania. The Friends’ School attained an impressive list of prizewinners and honorable mentions. A prize giving ceremony for students and their families will be held on Friday 22 September at Hobart College, in Olinda Grove, Mt Nelson commencing at 7.30pm.
First, Second and Third place winners will receive their prizes and Honourable Mentions will receive a certificate. First prize winners in the poetry section will be invited to recite their poem. There will also be performances by students from all participating schools and refreshments will be served. All parents and friends are welcome.

Service Opportunities
The Textile club meets every Monday at the High School to make Boomerang Bags which will be gifted to the local community. Please contact Sandra Brooks for more information.
