TSO Composers’ Project
We wish the following senior students well as pieces they composed as part of this year’s TSO Composers’ Project are recorded by members of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra on Saturday: Gabby Cayoun, Benjamin van der Niet and Toney Evans.
Clemes Music Awards
We are now seeking applications for Music Awards for Clemes for 2017. Students submitting an application should use this form. Applications are due Monday 25 September.
Spring Showcase Concert – Tuesday 19 September
On Tuesday 19 September at 7pm we will be presenting the Spring Showcase Concert in The Farrall Centre. This will be an evening of solo and chamber-group items featuring students from Morris, the High School and Clemes.
Student performers are asked to arrive at The Farrall Centre by 6.30pm for setup and tuning. Formal uniform is to be worn, which includes ties for boys and tights for girls wearing skirts. Blazers are not required.
Participating students have also been asked to bring a plate of supper to share at the conclusion of the event.

Man Choir Performance
The Friends’ School Man Choir has been invited to perform as a guest choir at a concert at Scots Church, Bathurst Street on Sunday 17 September. Our choir will join with local choir Men in Black and a number of soloists and duets to form an all male line-up.
The concert commences at 2.00pm, and students should be present from 1.30pm. They will need to wear full formal uniform including trousers, ties and blazers.
Audience members are most welcome to attend the concert. Tickets are $15 and $12, and children are $5, and can be purchased here. Afternoon tea is included in the ticket price.
Spring Equinox Picnic at Glen Derwent
A number of our marimba groups will be performing at the Spring Equinox Picnic on Saturday 23 September:

UTAS Twilight Concert (Contemporary Music)
On Monday 25 September at 7pm, our UTAS Contemporary Music students will present a concert in Hodgkin Hall. This will be an enjoyable evening of music. All are invited to attend and entry is free.
Visit from Brisbane’s Birralee Singers
Friends’ will host a visit from a group of young singers from internationally acclaimed choir Birralee Voices on Monday 25 September. The choristers will participate in a workshop with the Year 5 members of the Morris Maestros and the Year 7/8 Choir during the school day, and this will be followed by a short concert in The Farrall Centre from 2.15pm. Family and Friends’ community members are welcome to attend this free concert to enjoy some excellent singing.
