Scholarship Information


Shortlisting of Year 7 candidates for Merit, Boarding and Music Scholarships is expected to be completed by Thursday 30 March.

Candidates selected for an interview will be notified by Wednesday 5 April 2017. Interviews will be conducted from Thursday 6 April until Tuesday 11 April 2017.

It is expected that all offers for 2018 scholarships will be confirmed by the end of the final week of Term 1, 2017. The names of scholarship recipients will be published in The Mercury newspaper. A written request from parents or guardians is required if it is preferred that names are not published.


Applicants wishing to sit for a Friends’ School scholarship must be Australian Citizens or holders of an Australian Permanent Resident Visa.

Scholarship Times and Venue

All scholarship procedures will take place on the High School Campus at 23 Commercial Road North Hobart.

All Music Applicants will be invited to attend an audition on Friday 24 March. Applicants will be met at Main Reception and  escorted to their audition. Parents are welcome to wait in Reception.

Years 7 and 11 Music Scholarship auditions are allocated individual times and each applicant will be contacted and notified of available times.

Candidates sitting the Merit and/or Boarding examination paper on Saturday 25 March 2017 will be met at 9.45am at the Carr Street entrance by staff and shown to the scholarship rooms. Students can be collected following the examinations at the Carr Street entrance to the campus.

Candidates sitting the Year 7 examination paper will be asked to complete a two and a half hour exam from 10.00am – 12.30pm.

Candidates sitting the Year 11 examination paper will be asked to complete a three hour exam, commencing at 10.00am. There will be a 10-minute reading time, so candidates will finish at 1.10pm.
