Types of Bequests
FIXED AMOUNT OR PERCENTAGE
The Friends’ School receives a percentage of your estate or a specific dollar amount.
This is the most common type of bequest.
An unrestricted bequest allows the Board of The Friends’ School
to use your gift according to the School’s current needs.
It would be wise if special purpose restricted bequests were discussed with the School
first, so there is no doubt the conditions can be met.
PERSONAL AND REAL PROPERTY
The Friends’ School receives a specific asset, such as a parcel of land,
a work of art or shares.
CONTINGENT
The Friends’ School receives a gift from your estate,
usually in the event that you are not survived by your primary beneficiaries.
RESIDUAL
The Friends’ School received a share of, or the entire remainder of,
your estate after other specific bequests have been met.
TESTAMENTARY TRUST
You may leave all or part of your estate in a testamentary trust;
income from this trust will be paid to your beneficiaries for their lifetimes.
At the death of the last beneficiary, the balance of the estate passes
to The Friends’ School.
