Year 8 SOSE with Esther Hoggart
In SOSE we learnt about the Battle of Hastings. To help us learn about the Battle, our class re-enacted the scene of the battlefield. We headed down to the bottom green and our class was split into three separate divisions: The Vikings, the Normans and the Saxons. We then slowly re-enacted the battle, with the help of some props from the Drama Department. Whilst we re-enacted, Esther taught us about the different tactics used by each side and the different factors which determined who won the battle.
It was really good to learn about it by doing it and we think we learnt a lot more than we would if we read it out of a book.
This was a great unit and we learnt a lot from this exercise.

Sunsmart with Lego
Here is a copy of the submission that won first prize in the Sunsmart Cancer Council competition. This lego animation was created by William Hinds, Sam Fox-Hughes and Alistair Climie.
The competition was looking for the best text, image or video that conveys SunSmart messages about protecting your skin from the sun in the summer. Each entry needed to include all five SunSmart messages to protect yourself from the sun: Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide.
